TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s K-12 Education Administration held educational exchanges with tourism and education representatives from six Japanese prefectures in the Tohoku region.
Through the K-12 International Education Exchange Alliance, 26 educators from 16 Taiwanese schools held a briefing with 37 representatives from Aomori, Iwate, Akita, Miyagi, Yamagata, and Fukushima, according to an education ministry press release.
The ministry allocates NT$248 million (US$7.9 million) annually to the education exchange alliance. It consists of 11 regional offices to coordinate, plan, and actively promote international education exchanges nationwide for schools below the senior-high level.
The alliance planned the briefing with the Tohoku Tourism Promotion Organization in late 2025, according to the press release. The meeting discussed tourism, farm-stay exchanges, and local historical and cultural sites.
The Tohoku prefectures welcomed Taiwanese teachers and students to visit for exchanges and study tours.
