TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Tourism Administration joined the 2026 New York Travel and Adventure Show, which ran from Saturday to Sunday at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.
The administration’s booth offered visitors information and services for traveling to Taiwan under the theme “Picture Me in Taiwan,” per CNA. The booth featured cultural experiences to encourage visitors to imagine themselves enjoying memorable moments in Taiwan.
Representative to New York Lee Chih-chiang (李志強) said that although arrivals to Taiwan have increased, converting transit passengers into visitors who stay and spend in Taiwan remains a major challenge. The Tourism Administration continues to promote major events such as the Taiwan Lantern Festival and well-known attractions, Lee said, hoping that the momentum of Taiwan–US economic ties will also draw more North American travelers.
Chuang Ching-chen (莊靜真), director of the Tourism Administration’s New York office, said Taiwan is popular among North American travelers, and visitor numbers last year were approximately 10% higher than the year before. Taiwanese airlines will add more flights or expand routes in the eastern US this year, making travel to Taiwan more convenient, Chuang said.
China Airlines New York branch general manager Lee Wen-yi (李文儀) said that beginning Aug. 5, the airline will add a fifth weekly flight to New York. The airline hopes to increase to seven flights per week by the end of the year.
