TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan Deputy Mayor Chiang Lin-huang (姜淋煌) met with a delegation of Osaka City Councilors on Wednesday to discuss boosting cooperation between the two cities.
The Tainan City Government said Junko Tsuji, chair of the Japan-Taiwan Friendship Parliamentarians’ Union, led the six-member delegation. Officials said the two sides held face-to-face talks and agreed to strengthen cooperation in tourism, culture, education, and trade.
Chiang thanked the Osaka councilors for their long-standing support for Tainan. He cited fundraising efforts following Typhoon Danas as proof that the friendship has endured, per Yahoo News.
Tsuji said she was pleased to return to Tainan after visiting during the Taiwan-Japan Exchange Summit in 2025. She said visits to the Shan-Shang Garden Waterworks Museum and other cultural sites left a strong impression and motivated her to continue promoting exchanges.
Liberty Times reported that Tainan and Osaka share similar historical backgrounds and cultural assets, creating a strong foundation for cooperation. Tainan officials said collaboration between the two cities’ waterworks museums could serve as a practical starting point.
