TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Pingtung County will host a tropical agriculture expo from Feb. 7 through March 1 to demonstrate its farming strengths and draw visitors from across Taiwan.
The county government said Wednesday that the expo has teamed up with Italian children’s character “Rody” to create a bright and energetic festival space. Officials said painted rice fields and fruit corridors have been set up to make the site easy to walk through and fun to explore.
Officials said the expo is divided into 10 themed zones covering: forestry, orchids, leisure farming, food and farming education, bonsai art, and farm product sales. They said the layout guides visitors smoothly from learning areas to tasting and shopping zones without missing key highlights.
CNA reported that the forestry zone highlights sustainability through woodcraft demonstrations, interactive technology displays, and DIY activities. It said the orchid zone uses immersive flower installations and lighting to show how flowers can blend into everyday life.
Liberty Times reported that the leisure farming and food education zone links farm tours with hands-on classes to help visitors better understand where food comes from. It said the fruit corridor and painted rice fields are designed as must-see photo spots that also highlight local crop diversity.
The county government said traffic plans include shuttle buses from nearby parking areas and bookable accessible transport services to help spread out crowds. Officials said the measures aim to keep travel smooth and safe as visitor numbers rise on peak days.
