TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taichung’s Transportation Bureau on Tuesday launched a limited travel pass for the Wuling Farm cherry blossom season, running from Feb. 13 to March 1, to ease travel.
The city government said the pass bundles bus services, shuttle rides, farm entry tickets, and a 48-hour city bus pass into one package. Preorders open at noon, with only eight passes available per day.
Transportation Bureau Director-General Yeh Chao-fu (葉昭甫) said travelers can book seats, buy tickets and activate bus passes through the Taichung Go service, adding that the system is designed to make the trip smoother from booking to departure.
Yeh said the city has promoted a bus-first approach for the event in recent years, and early sales have been strong, showing that riding buses to see cherry blossoms is becoming a popular spring travel choice.
He suggested visitors stay overnight in the Guguan hot spring area and head out early the next morning, taking the reserved Route 865 bus to Lishan before transferring to a shuttle bound for Wuling Farm.
CNA reported that the cherry blossom season runs through March 1 and often draws large crowds to mountain areas, with officials saying the bundled pass allows visitors to skip driving and travel entirely by public transportation.
