TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Chiayi County Government on Tuesday rolled out 12 limited-edition gift sets tied to the Taiwan Lantern Festival as Lunar New Year shopping begins to pick up.
The county government said the gifts were unveiled at a launch event and combine the Chiayum farm brand with Lantern Festival themes. The lineup includes dried fruit boxes, tea oil noodles, pineapple cakes, rice snacks, and local sake made with regional ingredients.
Chiayum is a brand promoted by the Chiayi County government to highlight high-quality agricultural and fishery products from the region. The name blends “Chiayi” and “yummy” to signal premium local produce and help farmers reach wider markets.
County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang (翁章梁) said the Chiayum label has grown from 79 items to more than 800 and is now sold at highway rest areas, department stores, and overseas markets. He encouraged brands to keep building consumer trust and focus on long-term growth.
CNA reported that the county has published a Lunar New Year catalog on the Chiayum website, allowing buyers to order directly from producers. Some items are also available at nearly 100 outlets through FamilyMart.
Liberty Times reported that a Chiayum section has also been set up at Taoyuan International Airport’s Terminal 1, making it easier for travelers to pick up gifts before heading home. E-commerce platforms are also rolling out festival bundles with free shipping and cross-border delivery to reach overseas buyers.
