TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Starlux Airlines on Tuesday announced the launch of a Taichung–Kumamoto route beginning on March 31.
This is the only scheduled nonstop service from central Taiwan to Kumamoto, the airline said in a press release. The route will be operated with an A321neo aircraft, with three flights per week.
Starlux CEO Simon Shih (翟健華) said Kumamoto is a transportation hub within Kyushu that offers abundant natural and cultural resources. It offers easy access to attractions such as Kumamoto Castle and Mount Aso, Shih said.
Kumamoto is also a key center of Japan’s semiconductor industry and has stable business exchanges with the Taichung Science Park, he noted. The nonstop route from central Taiwan to Kumamoto will significantly shorten travel time for travelers heading to Kyushu, he added.
Starlux Airlines currently offers nonstop flights from Taichung to Kobe, Okinawa, and Takamatsu. It will launch direct Taichung flights to Miyakojima on Feb. 13 and Tokyo on March 30.
