TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The National Immigration Agency on Monday announced that it has revoked the long-term residency of a Chinese spouse influencer known as “Guan Guan” over controversial pro-unification remarks, and she has since left the country voluntarily.
The influencer posted comments on Douyin such as “sooner or later, the red flag will be planted all over Taiwan,” and “I hope the motherland prospers and unifies Taiwan as soon as possible,” per CNA. Her remarks drew complaints from multiple Taiwanese citizens last year.
The NIA said it determined a number of her recent statements posed a risk to national security and social stability after consulting relevant agencies and reviewing applicable regulations under the Cross-Strait Act and related rules.
The agency said it revoked her long-term residency permit, allowed her to present her views, issued an administrative ruling, and ordered her to leave the country, balancing lawful administration with human rights protections. She departed Taiwan on her own in mid-January.
In other similar cases, Chinese spouses accused of advocating armed unification, including "Yaya" Liu Zhenya, "Enqi" Zhang Yan, and "Xiaowei" Zhao Chan, had their residency permits revoked by the agency last year and subsequently left Taiwan. Another Chinese spouse, Qian Li, who operated a PLA fan page promoting armed unification, had her Taiwan ID and household registration canceled and her dependent residency permit revoked, and left Taiwan at the end of last year.
