TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — After warmer weekend temperatures, cold, wet weather is on the way to northern Taiwan this week.
Northeast monsoon winds will arrive on Monday, bringing cold air and moisture to most of northern Taiwan, with rain forecast to last through the week, reported CNA. The CWA issued a wind advisory for coastal areas of northern, central, and southern Taiwan through Monday evening.
Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Yilan, and parts of Hsinchu can expect rain for most of the week. The cold air mass will gradually shift southward, bringing showers to eastern Taiwan from Tuesday.
Temperatures across the northern half of Taiwan will drop by 2 or 3 degrees each day, reaching a low of 11 or 12 C on Wednesday night. Central and southern Taiwan can expect cloudy or sunny weather, with daily lows in the early morning between 12 and 15 C, per the CWA.
In northern Taiwan at elevations above 2,000 meters, and in central Taiwan at elevations above 3,000 meters, there is a chance of snow on Thursday and Friday mornings, per CNA.
The cold air mass is forecast to begin lifting on Friday. Sunny weather and warmer temperatures in the low 20s are expected to return over the weekend.
