TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The TPP held a press conference on Sunday to announce its policy platform ahead of this year’s local elections.
TPP Chair Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌) introduced 36 policy proposals divided into four broad visions: “stabilizing society, protecting livelihoods, ensuring healthcare, and strengthening industry,” CNA reported.
During the press conference, Huang was joined by candidates Chang Chi-kai (張啓楷) for Chiayi mayor and Chen Wan-hui (陳琬惠) for Yilan County magistrate.
Huang said that after stalled amendments to the Revenue and Expenditure Act are implemented, the party wants to create a mechanism to monitor how tax revenue is spent by local and central governments. He said the TPP aims to ensure municipalities receive sufficient funding for critical infrastructure and social programs.
In addition to the four policy visions, the blueprint included nine key initiatives for 2026. These include affordable housing, accessible transportation, support for the elderly, health care at all ages, improving education, promoting mental and physical health, a low-carbon society, supporting industrial advancement, and an inclusive society, per UDN.
Huang said the blue-white opposition alliance will remain in effect and the KMT is expected to issue a complementary policy platform. However, the party will wait to announce its platform until its candidate selection process is complete, per CNA.
