TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) said Saturday that Taiwan is working to establish a representative office in Phoenix, Arizona.
Lin said in a Facebook post that, in line with broader policy planning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is promoting the establishment of an office in the state capital to strengthen services and capabilities.
He added Taiwan is also planning to set up a “Taiwan Tower” in Texas. “These initiatives aim to provide integrated government services and to support the growing needs of two-way Taiwan-US investment and service exchanges,” he said.
In a separate post, Lin said Phoenix is one of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s most important overseas investment bases, prompting many Taiwanese engineers and their families to relocate there. He said demand for business travel, family visits, and tourism is expected to keep growing, making China Airlines and Starlux’s direct flights between Taipei and Phoenix promising.
So far, 22 US states and Guam have established offices in Taiwan. In 2025, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Iowa announced plans to open offices in the country, deepening Taiwan–US exchanges.
Lin said he looked forward to bolstering Taiwan-US cooperation to create mutual prosperity while strengthening the overall resilience of a non-China supply chain with democratic partners.
