TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Yilan County experienced a magnitude 4.7 earthquake at 1:01 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Central Weather Administration.
The epicenter was located 45.2 kilometers south of Yilan County Hall at a depth of 7.2 kilometers, the CWA said. Taiwan uses a scale of 1 to 7 to measure a quake's intensity at a specific location.
The quake registered a 4 in Yilan County and Hualien County. An intensity level of 2 was recorded in Nantou County, Taichung, and New Taipei.
An intensity level of 1 was reported in Taoyuan, Hsinchu County, Taipei, Miaoli County, Keelung, and Changhua County.
