TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration said snow accumulation was observed at the Yushan weather station on Friday.
Snow has been falling since observations began at 6 a.m., with accumulation reaching 1 cm, per CNA. The station recorded a low of minus 4.2 C at 7:50 a.m.
The CWA said a strong continental cold air mass has slightly weakened, but temperatures remain low at night and in the early morning. Lows in the west and northeast are expected to range from 9 to 13 C, while the east will see around 14 to 15 C.
Mountain areas remain especially cold, with icy roads likely overnight and in the early morning. With sufficient moisture, snowfall is possible above 3,000 meters and in central and northern Taiwan at elevations of around 2,500 meters or higher.
