TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Tainan is issuing a Historical Attraction Pass to boost the number of visitors at four of its most popular tourism sites during the Lunar New Year holiday, reports said Thursday.
For the price of NT$150 (US$4.75) per ticket, travelers could visit two out of four sites participating in the program, per CNA. The historic destinations are: Anping Old Fort, also known as Fort Zeelandia, Chikan Tower, Anping Tree House, and Eternal Golden Fort, also known as the Erkunshen Fortress.
The ticket will also provide cut-price entry to six other Tainan sites: Confucian Temple, National Museum of Taiwan History, Anping Maritime City, Navy Destroyer Deyang Ship Park, Sicao Green Tunnel, and the Ten Drum Cultural Village. Using the Historical Attraction Pass will lead to discounts from 5% to 50% until Aug. 31.
However, the program also elicited criticism, as the normal entry ticket for the four main attractions costs NT$70 each. The city’s Cultural Affairs Bureau said that by adding the six other sights, visitors could save up to NT$200.
Issuing one ticket for different sites would help boost visits across the city and would cut the time spent in lines waiting to buy tickets, the bureau said, adding the new pass was practical and held value as a collector’s item. The tickets will be available at the four main sights from Jan. 10 to Aug. 31.
