TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taipei International Book Exhibition is scheduled to take place next month.
The exhibition will take place from Feb. 3-8 at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1, per CNA. This year’s guest of honor is Thailand, which will showcase the nation’s creative energy through literature, illustration, visual storytelling, and diverse cultural experiences under the theme “Creathaivity.”
Thailand Trade and Economic Office Director Kallaya Leewongcharoen said the theme reflects the creativity Thai people bring to daily life. The pavilion will feature 50 books from across Thailand, showcasing different ways of life and imaginative creativity from various regions.
20 illustrated works by Thai artists will also be displayed. Visitors can enjoy activities, including meet-and-greets with authors, Thai cooking demonstrations, and Muay Thai performances.
Deputy Minister of Culture Lee Jing-hui (李靜慧) thanked the Thai Representative Office for inviting several leading Thai writers and illustrators to Taiwan, allowing readers to experience Thailand’s creative spirit through taste, sound, and language.
Lee said the culture ministry encourages young people to read more. This year, 13- to 15-year-olds have been formally included in the “Cultural Points” system. This government initiative provides NT$1,200 digital credits to youth for participating in local cultural activities, such as watching films or visiting museums.
She hoped that youths would use their cultural points to visit the book fair, select a book, and find a starting point for dialogue with the world.
