TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — MediaTek unveiled its Wi-Fi 8 chipset platform at CES in Las Vegas on Tuesday, positioning the Filogic 8000 series as a foundation for wireless connectivity in AI-driven devices.
The IC design house said the Filogic 8000 is designed for broadband gateways and a wide range of end devices, including smartphones and laptops, per CNA. It said the platform is aimed at enterprise and high-end consumer applications.
MediaTek said Wi-Fi 8 was developed in response to rising device density and network congestion that increasingly strain wireless reliability. These challenges become more acute as AI workloads and connected devices multiply, it added.
To address this, the company said Wi-Fi 8 prioritizes stable, low-latency connectivity in high-load environments. It said the standard is designed to support AI-intensive applications that require consistent performance and fast response times.
MediaTek said the Filogic 8000 series will initially target high-end and flagship devices adopting Wi-Fi 8. Early customers include Asus, Acer, and Foxconn.
Wi-Fi Alliance President and CEO Kevin Robinson commented that MediaTek’s early Wi-Fi 8 solution samples reflect strong industry momentum behind wireless innovation.
