TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Nagahama Sakanaya opened its doors at the Taipei 101 B1 Food Court on Wednesday.
The launch, part of a dual-brand expansion by Teng Hsing Restaurant Group, brings authentic Japanese "yatai" street-stall dining to the heart of the Xinyi District just in time for New Year’s Eve.
Recreating the atmosphere of Fukuoka’s traditional open-air food stalls, Nagahama Sakanaya anchors its menu on seasonal authenticity. The group air-freights fresh seafood twice weekly from Japanese ports to ensure a dock-to-table experience.
The brand's signature Bluefin tuna don has already emerged as a favorite, featuring a multi-layered combination of otoro, chutoro, akami, and minced tuna sourced from Ehime Prefecture. The bowl is paired with a signature silky "frozen egg" and traditional warm red-vinegar rice.
For value-seeking connoisseurs, the hidden luxury seafood don offers more than 10 types of seasonal seafood, including premium abalone, scallops, and bluefin tuna, for under NT$700 (US$22). Management describes the dish as a rare high-value offering for premium Japanese cuisine within a food court setting.
To mark the grand opening, Nagahama Sakanaya introduced the limited-time tsukimi four-delight don, a premium bowl with sea urchin, bluefin tuna, salmon, and salmon roe. The exclusive item drew significant interest from crowds ahead of the official launch.

Opening alongside the seafood brand is Happy Cow Hot Pot, an individual-pot specialist known for its Kansai-style sukiyaki and Japanese A5 Wagyu.
The dual-brand debut signifies the group’s strategic push to connect its high-quality imports with international tourists and local business professionals at Taiwan's most iconic landmark.
"Choosing to open on Dec. 31 targets the festive energy of Xinyi District and the global visibility of Taipei 101," said Hsiao Yi-yun (蕭伊雲), general manager of Teng Hsing Restaurant Group.
Hsiao noted that the location is a critical strategic hub for the group's premium A5 Wagyu and seafood offerings.
Looking ahead, Teng Hsing Restaurant Group plans to open 14 new outlets in the first quarter of 2026. The group is also diversifying its portfolio with new brands in Western fast food, Japanese brunch, and Chinese-style hot pots to expand its market reach.
