TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan is seeking to set up the Tourism Research and Training Institute to improve its tourism brand, Vice Premier Cheng Li-chun (鄭麗君) said Saturday.
Cheng suggested the Tourism Administration invite industry stakeholders to engage in in-depth discussions and provide recommendations on future operations, with the goal of formally inaugurating the institute by July, CNA reported.
The institute is one of the commitments under President Lai Ching-te’s (賴清德) “National Project of Hope,” Cheng said. It will serve as a national-level think tank, conducting research and strategic planning to shape Taiwan’s tourism brand internationally while also strengthening the tourism industry ecosystem.
The institute will also support talent cultivation and industry development and serve as a key platform for public-private collaboration among the government, industry, and local authorities.
Cheng said tourism is an important pathway for Taiwan to achieve shared prosperity and boost its global image. The Tourism Administration is formulating initiatives to improve sustainable tourism and expand the sector, she added.
