TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Yilan experienced a magnitude 7.0 earthquake at 11:05 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Central Weather Administration.
The epicenter was located 32.3 kilometers east of Yilan County Hall at a depth of 72.8 kilometers, the CWA said. Taiwan uses a scale of 1 to 7 to measure a quake's intensity at a specific location.
The quake registered a 4 in Yilan County, New Taipei, Hualien County, Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan, Hsinchu County, Taichung, Nantou County, Hsinchu, Miaoli County, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Taitung County, Chiayi County, Chiayi, and Tainan.
An intensity level of 3 was reported in Kaohsiung and Pingtung County. An intensity level of 2 was measured in Lienchiang County and Penghu County.
A level of 1 was detected in Kinmen County.
