TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will broadcast the Taipei 101 New Year fireworks show around the world live via satellite, reports said Friday.
The broadcast will start at 11:55 p.m. on Dec. 31, the ministry said in a statement. Taiwan’s embassies and missions around the world will provide the satellite link to local and international media.
After the event, the ministry will upload a video of the fireworks to its YouTube channel Trending Taiwan. The broadcast has become an annual tradition, with TV stations around the world including the Taipei event in their roundup of New Year countdowns.
For the first time, the event will also feature original music planned in cooperation with the Taipei Music Center, the ministry said. The six minutes of fireworks will be accompanied by five segments with the musical creations of local talent.
In contrast with previous years, Taipei 101 has organized five days of year-end countdown events beginning Saturday. The “Spark 101” series includes the “Spark the Night” light projection show, with a Toy Story countdown display from Disney, projections from other collaborating brands, and a light show featuring “Taiwan’s Invisible Heroes.”
