TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s minimum wage will rise on New Year’s Day, with the monthly rate increasing to NT$29,500 and the hourly rate to NT$196, benefiting an estimated 2.47 million workers.
The minimum wage adjustment represents an increase of NT$910 per month, or 3.18%, with the hourly wage hiked by 3.16%, per CNA. According to the Ministry of Labor, 1.74 million workers will benefit from the monthly wage increase, while 729,800 will benefit from the hourly wage adjustment.
In line with the minimum wage hike, the wage brackets for labor insurance, occupational accident insurance, and labor pension fund contributions will also be adjusted. The first-tier monthly insured salary for labor and accident insurance will rise from NT$28,590 to NT$29,500, while the second-tier wage of NT$28,800 will be removed, with other levels shifting sequentially.
Level 25 of the Labor Retirement Pension Monthly Contribution Classification Table will rise from NT$28,800 to NT$29,500, with the lower limit of the 26th tier adjusted accordingly.
The Bureau of Labor Insurance will automatically implement the new rates starting Jan. 1, 2026. The adjustments are expected to affect approximately 2.97 million labor insurance holders, 1.13 million employment insurance participants, 4.23 million occupational accident insurance holders, and 1.26 million pension contributors.
