TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foxtron on Thursday unveiled its first self-branded electric vehicle, Bria, positioning it as Taiwan’s first homegrown EV built for overseas markets.
The model was unveiled during the company’s first online product launch, with Foxtron Chair Li Ping-yen (李秉彥) saying Bria reflects the company’s strategy of being rooted in Taiwan while competing internationally, per CNA. He described the vehicle as a milestone for Taiwan’s EV industry as it seeks to expand beyond the domestic market.
Li said Bria integrates Taiwan’s strengths in electronics and AI, forming the foundation of Foxtron’s software-defined vehicle platform. The project combines complete vehicle technologies and architectures into a single, scalable system.
Development involved teams from Taiwan, the US, and Italy, reflecting what Li called a global mindset in engineering. Foxtron has also received recognition from Japanese partners, he added.
All three Bria models use 57.7-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate batteries, offering a maximum range of up to 516 kilometers under the New European Driving Cycle standard, according to Foxtron. The vehicles support L2 to L2+ assisted driving and include a vehicle motion controller and 360-degree surround-view system.
Li said developing a self-owned brand allows Foxtron to engage directly with consumers and better understand market demand. Bria shows the value of international collaboration and user experience, he added.
Foxtron was established in 2020 by Foxconn and Yulon Group, which remain its two largest shareholders, holding about 45.62% and 43.83% of the company, respectively.
