TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taichung City’s digital magazine Smart Taichung won a silver award in the communication design category at the London Design Awards.
Taichung City Government said Tuesday the awards are run by the International Awards Association. It honors outstanding design work from around the world, covering areas such as digital design, branding, products, and visual communication.
The city's digital affairs bureau Director Lin Ku-lung (林谷隆) said the city is pushing tech that people can actually use in daily life. He said digital power is city power and the goal is to make life easier, not just flashier.
Lin said the city's services like an online pregnancy taxi program and city apps can be used for festivals and shopping events. He said these tools help people sign up, pay, vote, and join lucky draws in a few quick steps.
The bureau's director said Smart Taichung tells these stories in a simple, first-person narrative so readers can see how the city is changing. Officials said they will keep mixing design and tech to build a smarter and friendlier city.
Smart Taichung is a digital magazine published by the Taichung's digital affairs bureau that tells stories about how smart tech is used in daily life across the city. It was launched and published online in 2025.
