TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency is warning foreign visitors to watch out for bogus websites that charge fees for the Taiwan Arrival Card, which is meant to be free.
An NIA press release said the agency has produced three postcard designs with a QR code that links to the official TWAC page. It plans to hand them out both before departure overseas and after arrival in Taiwan, per CNA.
The NIA said filing the card is entirely free, and anyone encountering a payment prompt should treat it as a warning sign and exit the site. Officials urged travelers who search by keyword to check the URL carefully rather than clicking the first result.
The postcards use Taiwan-themed visuals, mixing recognizable landmarks like Taipei 101 and Liberty Square with playful cultural icons like bubble milk tea and the plum blossom.
Taiwan moved to fully online arrival-card filing on Oct. 1. Travelers are allowed to submit the form within three days before landing.
The agency said it will hand the postcards to visitors during entry inspections, while major Taiwanese carriers will help circulate them through their overseas stations.
