TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Tainan City Government on Tuesday opened the Mashagou Seaside Activity Center in Jiangjun District after three years of construction.
According to the city government, Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) said the center gives residents a safe place to meet, eat together, and hold weddings or other events. He said the city will keep adding equipment to make the center more useful for daily life.
The city’s Jiangjun District Office noted that the old center was too small and located next to a road, raising safety concerns. The city invested NT$37.86 million (US$1.2 million) to build the new two-story center.
Jiangjun District Office Chief Chang Chieh-chun (張介軍) said the first floor has a hall for meetings and banquets, while the second floor can be used in many ways. Chang said the center’s main purpose is to bring the community closer together.
The Mashagou Seaside Activity Center has a total floor area of about 663 square meters. Construction broke ground in 2022 and took about three years to complete.
