TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Samsung on Friday introduced its first triple-fold flagship smartphone in Taiwan, with a suggested retail price of NT$89,900 (US$2,851).
When fully unfolded, the Galaxy Z TriFold offers a 10-inch display, slightly smaller than the standard iPad screen of around 10.2 inches. Following its initial release in South Korea, Taiwan is among the first six international markets to receive the new model, according to CNA.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is offered in Taiwan in a single black color with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, with other configurations available in other markets. Samsung said the main display has passed more than 200,000 folds, equivalent to folding the phone roughly 100 times a day for five years.
Samsung Mobile Communications Taiwan General Manager Chen Chih-meng (陳啓蒙) said the local foldable smartphone market has remained stable during the first 10 months of this year. He said sales of Samsung’s Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 models in Taiwan during the first four months after launch rose nearly 10% in volume and about 35% in revenue compared with their predecessors.
He said the performance contributed to Taiwan being selected as a launch market for the Galaxy Z TriFold. Samsung plans to distribute the new device primarily through its own channels, which will account for around 90% of sales, with the remainder offered through selected telecom operators.
Looking ahead, the company expects Taiwan’s overall smartphone market to see modest growth in sales volume and double-digit growth in revenue next year. While rising component costs, such as memory chips, may influence prices, Samsung’s complete supply chain is expected to mitigate the impact.
