TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan’s Economic Development Bureau plans to roll out a new digital system early next year to better manage and guide unregistered factories.
The Tainan City Government said Monday the system will let officials issue payment notices and run automatic account checks, which it said should reduce manual work and lower the risk of mistakes. It is also expected to speed up how fees are handled and tracked.
Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) said the job has been difficult since changes to the Factory Management and Counseling Act took effect in March 2020. Huang said data has been spread out, paperwork has piled up and checks have taken too long.
Economic Development Bureau Director Chang Ting-yuan (張婷媛) said the new system will integrate factory registration, inspections, payments and maps in one place. Chang said it should ease staff workload and make services clearer and easier to use.
The bureau said businesses will be able to look up case details and payment records online once the system goes live. It said the city will continue refining the system to support smarter governance and better planning.
