TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Korean girl group Kara was announced as the headliner for Taipei’s New Year’s Eve Party by the Taipei Department of Information and Tourism on Friday.
Kara’s return to Taiwan this year will mark 12 years since it last performed in the country, reported CNA. To celebrate the announcement, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) shared a clip on Facebook inviting everyone to join the festivities at the New Year’s countdown party outside Taipei City Hall.
The group was formed in 2007 and achieved considerable fame before disbanding in 2016. However, members reunited in 2022 for the release of a new mini-album, with tours in 2024 and 2025.
In addition to the K-pop girl group, Genblue, made up of Korean and Taiwanese members, will also perform.
The event will feature a total of 10 musical acts on the main stage, including Tanya Chua, a popular singer from Singapore, and Bii, a Korean-Taiwanese singer-songwriter.
In addition to the main stage at City Hall, Taipei has arranged free public performances by local music artists at four other locations across the city: Dinghao Square, Jingqin No. 1 Park, Xiangshan Park, and Four Four South Village.
More information on performers and venues can be found at the event homepage.
