TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Smoke grenades were thrown at Taipei Main Station at 5:24 p.m., Taipei Metro reported.
According to UDN, smoke grenades were thrown near Exit M7, sending dense white smoke through the underground platform area between Exits M7 and M8. One person was hospitalized.
Taipei City Fire Department said the smoke came from smoke grenades that ignited near Exit M7. When rescue personnel arrived, there was no active fire.
However, they found an individual unresponsive. The person was rushed to National Taiwan University Hospital for emergency treatment.
Some Bannan Line trains bypassed the station following standard procedures due to the smoke. The smoke has since cleared, and trains have resumed normal operations.
