TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — An earthquake struck eastern Taiwan on Thursday at 7:32 p.m, according to the Central Weather Agency.
The epicenter was located 18.3 km northeast of Hualien County Hall at a depth of 31.6 km, the CWA said.
Taiwan uses a scale of 1 to 7 to measure a quake's intensity at a specific location. The quake registered a 4 in Hualien County, while Yilan County registered a 3.
An intensity level of 2 was measured in Nantou County, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, New Taipei City, and Changhua County.
An intensity level of 1 was measured in Taichung City, Taitung County, Miaoli County, Taipei City, Keelung City, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Chiayi City, and Tainan City.
