TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Kingray Electronic said Wednesday it has entered the drone optical module supply chain, with shipments set to begin in Q4.
The company said it is leveraging its strengths in optical thin-film processing and semiconductor microlithography to expand into unmanned systems, per CNA. It has been working with domestic drone manufacturers, with shipments of single-lens camera modules expected to begin in the fourth quarter.
Kingray said its flagship New Blue Glass (NBG) filters, used in smartphones and automotive systems, have now been upgraded into modular products. The lineup includes single-lens camera modules developed in collaboration with major Taiwanese drone makers.
The company noted that modules can be priced up to 100 times higher than individual NBG filter components. Kingray plans to produce 250,000 single-lens camera modules annually.
Kingray added that its drone and unmanned vehicle portfolio now includes color night-vision, infrared thermal imaging, and long-range camera modules, giving it a more secure position in the domestic drone supply chain.
