TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tigerair Taiwan and EVA Air have signed collective agreements with their respective labor unions, with Tigerair completing its first such pact and EVA renewing an earlier agreement.
Under Taiwan’s Collective Agreement Act, these agreements let unions and employers lock in baseline terms for pay, scheduling and benefits, along with dispute-handling and workplace safety rules, per CNA.
Tigerair Taiwan signed the agreement with the Tigerair Taiwan Enterprise Union at an event attended by senior transportation and civil aviation officials. The airline’s chair and the union’s chair signed on behalf of management and labor, according to UDN.
EVA Air also signed a collective agreement with the EVA Air Corporation Affiliated Enterprises Union. The airline said its previous pact, signed in 2022, expired on Oct. 31 and was renewed after multiple rounds of meetings.
The agreements come after heightened scrutiny of working conditions at EVA Air following the death in October of a 34-year-old flight attendant. EVA Air President Clay Sun (孫嘉明) later apologized publicly and said the company would review employee care mechanisms, while the airline said labor authority inspections found it in compliance.
