TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Hsinchu County’s Guanxi Township recorded a low of 9.5 C early Wednesday, the coldest flatland temperature nationwide.
CNA reported that flatland areas elsewhere saw lows of about 10 C to 12 C, with cooler conditions in northern Taiwan and slightly warmer weather in central and southern regions.
Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) said stronger northeast winds on Wednesday and Thursday will bring cloud cover to northern Taiwan. He said central and southern areas will remain mostly sunny, with cool nights and mornings and slightly lower daytime highs.
Wu said cloud cover and the chance of rain increase Friday and Saturday as weather systems move north from the South China Sea. He added another northeast monsoon will arrive Sunday, turning northern Taiwan cooler before drier weather returns next week.
