TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Meteorologist Wu De-rong (吳德榮) predicts that Taiwan will experience its first strong cold air mass of the season starting Sunday night.
Wu said that cold air is gradually moving south on Saturday afternoon, causing the north to get colder as the night progresses, per CNA. Sunday night, Monday, and Tuesday morning are expected to see the lowest temperatures.
Wu predicted lowland temperatures across Taiwan potentially dropping below 10°C. According to the Central Weather Administration, the lowest temperatures recorded Saturday morning in the lowlands were 13.7 C in Tainan's Nanxi District, and 14.1 C in both Chiayi County's Zhushan Township and Yunlin County's Gukeng Township.
Wu said from Sunday onward, the dry cold air will move south, leading to clear skies across the island. From Sunday through Tuesday morning, daytime sunshine will feel comfortable, while mornings and evenings will be cold.
