TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) praised close ties with Israel during recent talks with Ohad Tal, chair of the Israeli parliament's Indo-Pacific caucus.
Lin said in a Facebook post that people-to-people exchanges and parliamentary visits have deepened in recent years, adding that the two democracies are working together to contribute to the world.
He said that through the Global Cooperation and Training Framework, Taiwan has shared its experiences with like-minded countries in fields such as public health, democratic governance, and disaster prevention, and encouraged Israel to participate in the future.
Lin thanked Tal for his long-standing support for Taiwan in the Israeli parliament and noted that a Taiwanese economic delegation will visit Israel soon. He added that Taiwan looks forward to more exchanges in areas such as semiconductors and high-tech talent cultivation.
The minister pledged to continue working with democratic allies, including Israel, to contribute to regional prosperity.
Lin’s meeting with Tal comes as reports on Thursday revealed Deputy Foreign Minister Francois Wu (吳志中) made a secret trip to Israel within recent weeks.
In October, President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) expressed support for Israel during talks with a visiting American Israel Public Affairs Committee delegation. “Israel’s determination and capacity to defend its territory provides a valuable model for Taiwan,” Lai said.
