TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The success of Taiwanese businesspeople is Taiwan’s success, Deputy Legislative Speaker Chiang Chi-chen (江啟臣) said at an Asia Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce meeting in Singapore on Wednesday.
Chiang said businesspeople travel the world with “a suitcase and the Taiwanese spirit,” according to the Legislative Yuan. They are the best ambassadors for Taiwan’s international image, he said.
He said the legislature’s three commitments to Taiwanese businesspeople are to fully support global business expansion, create a high-quality investment environment so that Taiwanese businesses can return to Taiwan and grow their operations, and promote better communication between businesspeople and the government.
These commitments are the consensus of all legislators, Chiang said, adding that the Legislative Yuan will continue to be the strongest supporter of Taiwanese businesses.
Chiang said that under Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu’s (韓國瑜) leadership, the Legislative Yuan has engaged in parliamentary diplomacy. As of the end of November, the legislature has received 428 visiting delegations from 77 countries. Many of these visitors highlighted Taiwan’s economic strength, solid international competitiveness, and the global footprint of Taiwanese businesses, he said.
