TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan has built two new themed parks in the North District as part of efforts to turn the area into a playground for children, the Tainan City Government reported Thursday.
The government said Beicheng and Shunde parks were built to give kids more room to play and learn. Officials added that both parks were designed using ideas gathered from local parents and community groups.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) said the North District has already rolled out nine themed playgrounds this year and plans to open one more soon. Huang added that the city hopes to turn the whole district into a place where children can run around and cultivate their interpersonal skills.
“The core values of building the parks were designed to help kids think creatively and explore new things,” the mayor said. He added that the plan follows three principles — safety, inclusion, and innovation — which guide how Tainan builds these public spaces.
North District Chief Pan Pao-shu (潘寶淑) said the two new parks were shaped for different age groups so all children can join in. Pan added that another Beiyuan Park is expected to open early next year and will help wrap up this phase of upgrades.
