TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Five scholars from Indonesia and the US visited Chiayi County’s Minxiong Township Public Health Center on Wednesday to see how Taiwan’s local health system operates.
CNA reported that Chang Gung University of Science and Technology arranged the tour so the scholars could observe services at the center and watch seniors take part in craft projects that highlight community health programs. Chiayi County Health Bureau Director Chao Wen-hua (趙紋華) also joined the visit.
Chao said eight county-run public health centers now serve as training sites for nursing students. She said the tour helped guests understand how Taiwan’s clinics fit into local communities and why they matter.
Weng Cheng-hsing (翁政興), a professor in the university’s nursing department, said the visit aimed to show how Taiwan builds its public health system and trains students in real-world settings. Weng said the school also wanted to demonstrate Taiwan’s investment in community health work.
Minxiong Public Health Center official Tseng Yu-chih (曾玉枝) said the center links medical care, long-term care, and community resources to provide one-stop services. She said seniors also showcased a program in which they make LED-lit decorative bottles designed to help them stay active
