TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Deputy Representative to the Philippines Dustin Yang (楊登仕) and Taiwan Technical Mission head Dominique Lee (李泰昌) met with Philippine Senator Francis Pangilinan last week to discuss deepening agricultural cooperation.
Pangilinan said in a Facebook post that Yang shared updates on the Taiwan Technical Mission demonstration farm in Tarlac and on Taiwan’s best practices in agricultural extension services. The senator said Taiwan’s assistance helps the Philippines implement its Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Act.
The two sides also talked about a Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund assistance program to strengthen the Philippines’ agricultural systems.
“Partnerships like these will go a long way for more modern agriculture, higher yields, and stronger food security in the country,” the senator said.
The demonstration farm, which covers five hectares, opened in December 2023, per CNA. The Taiwan Technical Mission has helped increase crop yields and incomes for farmers in central Luzon by introducing climate-resilient vegetables and high-value crops, as well as building agricultural facilities.
