TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan and India pledged Thursday to build a resilient supply chain by combining Taiwan’s advanced technologies with India’s software talent and manufacturing incentives.
CNA reported there was a meeting between Taiwan’s Deputy Economics Minister Cynthia Kiang (江文若) and India’s Amardeep Singh Bhatia, secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. It was focused on global trade trends, investment strategies, and supply chain cooperation amid efforts to diversify beyond vulnerable networks.
Kiang called India a key destination for Taiwanese firms seeking stability. Meanwhile, Bhatia highlighted India’s infrastructure improvements to attract global partners.
Bhatia led a delegation of over 30 Indian industry representatives for the fourth India-Taiwan CEOs Roundtable on Tuesday, where businesses offered government recommendations. The two sides also inked a memorandum of understanding on healthcare product regulations.
Taiwan-India trade hit a record NT$331.81 billion (US$10.6 billion) last year, and in the first 10 months of this year was up 17.69% on the previous year, according to Taiwan’s Ministry of Finance.
