TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s representative in Thailand, Lan Hsia-li (藍夏禮), announced the establishment of the Taiwan-Thailand Technology Talent Service Platform on Wednesday.
It aims to help Taiwanese businesses in Thailand address talent shortages and training needs arising from their investments, CNA reported.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand said that Taiwanese investments in the country last year reached US$1.54 billion (NT$48.31 billion), making Taiwan the fourth-largest foreign investor in Thailand. Over 60 Thai firms in the printed circuit board industry have received upstream and downstream investment from Taiwanese companies, employing over 10,000 people, the office added.
However, Taiwanese companies face a shortage of skilled technology talent in Thailand, the office said. Companies are seeking more college graduates majoring in science and engineering, as well as professionals with foreign language and cross-cultural communication skills.
In response to these needs, the Taiwan-Thailand Technology Talent Service Platform was established to facilitate information exchange, consolidate resources, and provide a foundation for coordination with Thai authorities to resolve talent issues.
The platform signals Taiwan’s intent to gradually integrate government, academic, and business resources to consult with Thailand on talent training and explore practical solutions together, the office said.
