TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of Economic Affairs unveiled an upgraded NT$10 billion (US$318.5 million) export-promotion plan on Tuesday to help companies expand overseas.
The International Trade Administration (ITA) said it has received 411 applications so far, with the plan set to begin on Jan. 1, per CNA. Once implemented, the program is expected to support over 40,000 companies and generate more than NT$125.56 billion in business opportunities, per UDN.
ITA Director Liu Wei-lien (劉威廉) said rising freight, airfare and booth costs have prompted the ministry to increase support for the initiative.
Individual exhibitor subsidies for overseas shows are now NT$120,000 to NT$160,000 per event, covering booth setup and shipping. Trade association booths receive NT$180,000 to NT$250,000, while pavilions can receive up to NT$5 million. Additional support of up to NT$20 million is available for product launches and buyer networking events.
The direct-to-buyer program will allow companies to invite overseas buyers to Taiwan for factory visits and negotiations with airfare and lodging subsidies. Priority is given to New Southbound Policy countries and Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership members.
The ministry will also expand Taiwan’s global presence through pavilions at top exhibitions, including EMO Hannover and Eurobike. Four additional Taiwan showcases are planned next year in Japan, the US, Poland, and the Philippines.
AI marketing tools are another key feature. Companies will gain dashboards for tracking global import-export trends, access digital marketing consultants, and receive expanded subsidies for establishing overseas channels.
