TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei Fubon Bank opened its Budding Tycoon Money Management Camp for a junior baseball team on Thursday, aiming to teach basic money management skills to teenagers.
The event drew 22 players from New Taipei Municipal Er Chong Junior High School’s baseball team to the Guardians Xinchuang Branch, per a press release. They explored how financial literacy can support their athletic ambitions.
Fubon Guardians pitcher Ou Shu-Chen (歐書誠) joined the session, energizing the room as students crowded around to take photos and ask questions. He shared stories from his baseball journey and offered practical tips on managing money.
Taipei Fubon Bank instructors then led students through lessons on daily financial habits and anti-fraud awareness. The hands-on “junior banker” segment gave students practical experience with withdrawals, currency exchange, and ATM operations.
Ou encouraged the young baseball players to pursue excellence on the field while also developing healthy financial habits early, noting that discipline in money management is as important as discipline in training.
The bank highlighted that athletes often face fluctuating incomes and short career windows, making early financial planning essential. Skills such as budgeting and risk management can help them navigate off-seasons and career transitions, according to the bank.
Since Budding Tycoon Money Management Camp for junior baseball team is launched in 2023, the camp has welcomed more than 130 young baseball players from seven schools, offering a mix of anti-fraud education and athletic mentoring.
Taipei Fubon Bank also invites Fubon Guardians and Taipei Fubon Braves players each year to interact with students about career development and personal finance, a format that has won praise from teachers and students.
The bank has supported grassroots baseball for decades, sponsoring the National Taiwan University of Sport’s Division I baseball team — the Fubon Bulls — since 1993 and serving as the primary sponsor of New Taipei City’s U12, U15 and U18 baseball leagues. From little league to professional play, the bank remains committed to nurturing Taiwan’s next generation baseball talent.
Taipei Fubon Bank is equally dedicated in other sports. Since 2014, it has supported Taipei Fubon Braves basketball team as well as events such as the Taipei Marathon and Fubon Senior Open. Internally, it runs a fitness center and various sports clubs — including running, badminton and table tennis — to encourage employees to stay active. For six consecutive years, it has received the Ministry of Education’s Sports Contribution Award.
The bank stated it remains a longtime supporter of grassroots sports, sponsoring teams from youth leagues to top-division programs and engaging in major marathons and community events.
