TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — National Chengchi University and the Junyi Academy Foundation announced on Monday the launch of a series of online courses to provide high school students with free access to humanities disciplines.
The initiative aims to cultivate humanistic literacy and cross-cultural perspectives that artificial intelligence cannot replace, according to an NCCU press release.
NCCU President Lee Tsai-yen (李蔡彥) said the collaboration is a win-win situation. Junyi Academy Foundation benefits learners at all grades, and NCCU seeks to promote the curricula it produces. In an age shaped by AI, innovation must be broader in scope to meet the needs of students and society, Lee said.
Junyi Academy Foundation Chairman Lu Kuan-wei (呂冠緯) said this partnership would enable millions of junior and senior high school students to broaden their horizons and acquire cross-disciplinary knowledge. At the same time, it gives rural high school students unlimited access to NCCU’s high-quality digital resources.
The courses include diplomacy and international affairs, European and Asian language programs, and risk management and insurance courses. Through lectures and “micro-curricula,” high school students can explore their interest in humanities and social sciences even before entering university, NCCU said.
NCCU’s online courses will be gradually launched in the “open university courses” section (大學開放課程專區) of Junyi Academy’s education platform. High school teachers can also integrate these courses into multidisciplinary electives or special learning periods and adopt cross-school collaborative learning models.
