TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taichung’s Central Taiwan Science Park is riding a tech boom as global AI demand drives workforce and revenue gains.
Driven by global demand for AI and high-tech products, the park’s workforce reached 60,859 by the end of October, a 12.5% increase from last year, per CNA.
From January to August, the park’s revenue was NT$705.8 billion (US$22.41 billion), up 5.55% from the same period last year. Full-year revenue is expected to once again exceed NT$1 trillion.
Phase two of the park’s expansion is in motion. Covering 89.75 hectares, soil and water conservation work has been completed. Once operational, the upgrade is projected to create NT$500 billion in annual output and 4,500 jobs.
The park hosts key players in electronics and AI-related industries, attracting domestic and international firms. Its concentration of high-tech talent and infrastructure has made it a critical node in Taiwan’s semiconductor and broader technology ecosystem.
The park administration emphasized its sustainable approach, integrating technology and environmental stewardship. This strategy aims to attract emerging industries and support industrial transformation across central Taiwan, it said.
Officials said the park will strengthen its role as a global center for AI applications and sustainable development, ensuring long-term growth for Taiwan’s tech sector.
