TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A major water pipeline was damaged by construction crews in Tamsui on Friday forcing the suspension of water services for many residents ahead of the weekend.
Taiwan Water Corporation said at 12 p.m. that water would be suspended to 16 boroughs in north Tamsui for up to 26 hours. Residents were urged to stock up on water, reported Now News.
Road crews working near Guandu Bridge reportedly damaged a 1,000 mm ductile iron pipe causing a major leak that will require emergency repairs.
The neighborhoods affected include most of the residential areas located along the Tanhai Light Rail from Beixin Road North to Kanding. Repairs are expected to be finished early Sunday morning before 2 a.m.
