TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Visitors from New Zealand can start using the e-Gates at Taiwan airports beginning Saturday, according to the National Immigration Agency.
Interior Minister Liu Shyh-fang (劉世芳) will announce the new policy on the day of its launch, but the agency already revealed the plan in a statement Thursday. The service will be available to people holding an e-passport valid for at least six months, aged 12 or above and at least 120 centimeters tall.
If the New Zealand travelers have registered, they can use the e-Gates free of charge, the agency said. Taiwan’s airports and seaports are equipped with 121 e-Gates, which provide a swift and convenient service for arriving and departing travelers.
The agency also reminded international visitors to complete a Taiwan Arrival Card before they arrive in Taiwan to benefit from efficient service. The card service was launched on Oct. 1.
The changes for New Zealand visitors followed a decision by the country to allow Taiwanese travelers to use its e-Gates, per CNA. Eight countries now provide access to visitors from Taiwan through e-Gates.
