TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Chunghwa Post will release a new series of commemorative stamps on Dec. 1 to mark the upcoming Year of the Horse, the company said in a press release.
The set includes NT$6 (US$0.19) and NT$13 stamps, as well as a souvenir sheet featuring an NT$15 stamp. The designs draw inspiration from the lunar couplet “may you be as spirited as a dragon and a horse” (龍馬精神賀新歲).
The stamps feature red and white horses, with the souvenir sheet depicting a horse flying through clouds. Chunghwa Post said the imagery symbolizes good fortune and conveys wishes for a vibrant and prosperous new year.
According to the company, the red horse represents joy, prosperity, and success in the coming year, while the white horse symbolizes perseverance and strength, expressing hopes for leadership and steady self-improvement. The miniature sheet’s red horse soaring through clouds reflects energetic momentum and the auspicious “dragon-horse spirit.”

Chunghwa Post said it will also issue printed sheets on Dec. 1, stored in a special commemorative cylinder containing two uncut sheets of NT$6 and NT$13 stamps (20 stamps each), nine souvenir mini sheets, and a certificate. The edges retain the color marks and cutting lines used during printing.
To coincide with the release, the company will produce limited first-day covers, stamp cards, stamp protection cards, and loose-leaf stamp cards, all available starting Thursday.
Collectors may purchase the new items at post office branches, through the Chunghwa Post website, or via its online platform.
