TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The military is inviting companies to submit quotations for five types of drones.
The Armaments Bureau’s Production and Manufacturing Center will hold a vendor briefing on Thursday at 10 a.m., Liberty Times reported.
The military plans to purchase 7,500 first-person-view drones next year and 26,500 additional ones in 2027, per the government e-procurement platform. It will also buy 4,140 bombing drones, 4,040 medium-range loitering munitions, 5,860 small loitering munitions, and 710 coastal reconnaissance drones in the next two years.
All drone models must be manufactured or assembled domestically, and Chinese components are prohibited. Companies from China, Hong Kong, and Macao, as well as firms containing Chinese capital, are also barred from participating.
For security reasons, attendees at Thursday’s briefing must hand over smartphones and other electronic devices and will receive them back after the meeting, per Liberty Times. Additionally, official procurement requirements and tender documents will be based on later announcements and details published on the government e-procurement platform.
