TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The education ministry’s Youth Development Administration held a two-day youth AI forum on Saturday.
The forum focused on five key areas: AI education and literacy, labor transformation and industrial applications, cultural heritage and local development, information security and social protection, and digital equity and inclusive governance, the YDA said. Government representatives and scholars were invited to discuss these topics.
On the first day, participants split into groups to debate AI-related issues and shared recommendations on existing policies. On the second day, representatives from the Ministry of Digital Development, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Labor engaged with the youth to hear their perspectives, turning their ideas into concrete policy directions.
Over 30 youth teams presented creative solutions to AI challenges, per the YDA. Some suggested developing AI-powered caregiving apps to assist communication between the elderly and caregivers. Others want to use AI to promote local cultural tours and smart tourism to enhance travel experiences and boost local industries. The importance of addressing issues such as AI legislation and labor transformation was also highlighted.
YDA Director Chen Hsueh-yu (陳雪玉) said the forum embodies civic participation through dialogue on AI topics and showcases youth potential in mainstream public governance. The outcomes of the forum will be incorporated into cross-departmental government policymaking, Chen said. She hoped that Taiwanese youth would continue to voice their ideas and transform innovation into policy development.
